Der boshafte Riese von Poel – The malicious Giant from Poel
Once upon a time, a particularly malicious giant lived on the island of Poel. One day when he noticed a new church tower on the other side of the water, he became so angry that he wanted to smash it. The giants didn’t like it when something was bigger than them. The giant looked for a stately boulder, took a long run from Timmendorf down to the beach and hurled the stone in a high arc over the bay.
However, the giant stone did not fly far enough and splashed into the water on the Redewischer Ufer, where it still lies today. However, at every point where the giant stepped on the bank again and which then immediately filled with water, the Timmendorfer Harbor is located today. – The sculpture was donated by Family Lembcke Kirchdorf
Sagenstraße der Insel Poel – Legend Route of the Island of Poel
The Association of Friends of the History Museum of the Island Poel has compiled many legends of the island of Poel and published them in a brochure. This was well received by locals, tourists and everyone who feels connected to Poel. The action space of the individual sagas extends over almost all villages and areas of the island. The idea of ??the legend route is to design some places where the legends happen in such a way that they become focal points for visitors and, as a whole, become a further attraction on the island. Boulders are set up, to which a board is attached, on which the legend can be read and which may also contain a graphic illustration. As a real attraction, a figurative representation from the content of the legend is to be set up next to it.
