Accommodation / Albania / EuropeDo you need some nice advice for a short trip or long term holiday destination? We already wrote something about a roadtrip through Albania and presented you the country as a new secret hint (Let´s go to Albania). The New York Times voted the country in the newcomer list of soonly be in demand places of interest. Our trip was definitly classic, we learned a lot, had fun and it was (still) quite cheap. The whole country is paved with UNESCO heritages, one of the most impressive cities is certainly Berat. We stood there for a few days in Skotis Backpacker Hostel. The born Scot is an enthusiastic person, excited about travelling and get to know other countries and cultures. Here in Berat in Albania her realized his long wished dream about opening a hostel. When he came to Albania in 2008 there existed just one hostel in the capital Tirana. (We wrote as well something about that place with interviews with the owners). The city Berat is just a historical and as well an architectonical sight, where you should spend some days. The river Osum divides the city in a valley, the houses are built in hills and into the mountain. All the buildings are constructed and presented mostly in the same style and clustered into the hills and valley walls. But actually you don´t see a lot of any walls. There are just window. A lot of windows. That´s why Berat is called as well the „City of the thousand windows“. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

There are several Buddhas spread across the square, as well scenes from ancient legends and numerous gods and goddesses. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
Culturists / Germany / Painter / PhotographyThe Kreativnomade is settling down. At least spatially, the inspiration remains free. Sam Khayari is truly called the painter, photographer and visual artist, but many in the Rhine-Main region are more familiar with his stage name and his works or the events he organizes. The wandering has but now an end. Sam has found the ideal building and a new home for art, culture and music in Rüsselsheim. He calls it creative Hub himself. In a restaurant that has been vacant for 20 years from 1887, after a long and loving work, the creative center of the Kreativnomaden has now opened, the Chausseehaus. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
Singapore / StreetartSingapore is an island and city-state south of Malaysia. Small but golden. It is a global financial center with a tropical climate and a multicultural population. In the Chinese quarter Chinatown from around the 1820s is the red and gold Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, in which a tooth of Buddha is said to be. Design / Estonia / History / StreetartHere is an article for the streetart lovers, especially the fans of abandoned buildings and lost places. At the coast to the Eastern Sea between the Tallinna Sadam harbor and the Kultuurikatel, the culture center, there is the Linnahall located. It´s not really used anymore and this old Mayan pyramid like monument made of grey concrete just gives you some mysterious vibes. It could be as well kind of a medieval sea fortress to protect the coast with gunpowder cannons. But it´s not that old, it was just built in 1980 by the Estonian architects Raine Karp and Riina Altmäe. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

Belgium / StreetartAround 188,000 residents live in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, but the entire metropolitan region comprises around 1.2 million people. There is of course plenty to see, great art and culture, and also urban art. Especially the Comic Book Route shows a collection of murals with famous comic characters and scenes, also during the festivals BALKAN TRAFIK or LA BELLE HIP HOP several great artworks were made. In terms of architecture from older times, you should take a look at the Royal Palace, in contrast to the Atomium as a monument to progress and a remnant of the 1958 World Expo. The Grote Markt is certainly stylish and sublime again, as is the small, roguish Manneken Pis, a urinating landmark of the city that makes you smile. >>> READ MORE   [...] Read more...
Italy / StreetartMRFIJODOR is the pseudonym of FIJODOR BENZO. He tried for years to have a tag like all writers, but in the end he was satisfied with his first name. As a child with a strong creative vein, he began by making monsters with LEGO bricks and drawing on the walls of his bedroom. In recent years, his production has been very varied, ranging from installations to thematic murals, but also performances and graffiti, which he has been dealing with since 1994. He creates works whose subjects are usually elementary forms that carry direct and ironically responsible messages; at the base a simple reading key, in order to always be able to dialogue with the user. Very often, his works are marked by a social or ecological criticism, using as a weapon a childishly amazed smile and a spontaneous and direct style, free from complex technical elements. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
Nepal / StreetartHere we have a collection of streetart pieces from the Thamel district in Kathmandu. These include graphic murals, characters, and calligraphy, which is often found here in beautiful, intricate detail. Especially the unfortunately now defunct collective ART LAB carried out several projects here, as did a number of foreign artists passing through. Actually there are three of them. The Colors Hotels are old remodeled buildings with artworks of local sprayers.
