Sarajevo is the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, covering an area of approximately 142 km² and home to about 275,000 residents. The city is shaped by its turbulent history and cultural diversity; the Bosnian War from 1992 to 1995 had a particularly profound impact, during which Sarajevo was under siege for nearly four years. To this day, numerous memorials, bullet holes, and commemorative sites serve as reminders of that period. At the same time, Sarajevo has evolved into a vibrant city where urban art, graffiti, and murals shape the cityscape and open up new perspectives on memory, identity, and coexistence. Especially the association OBOJENA KLAPA and the MANIFESTO GALERIJA have carried out numerous mural and art projects, and the FASADA FESTIVAL has been adding new works annually since 2021. A huge thank you and great respect for his work goes to BENJAMIN ČENGIČ, aka ZIAN, who helped us really a lot and made connections. We’d also like to thank RUTZ and SAŠA PEŠEVSKI, who showed us countless graffiti spots we never would have found on our own. The map is online, new markers will get added continously, enjoy exploring. And if you want to contribute to this map with own photos, send those to info@vagabundler.com and we will add them.
How does the map work? All the buttons on the map are links to a photo gallery of the spot, sometimes with only one photo, sometimes with heaps of photos or even a full article. The different symbols explain various categories of the streetart and graffiti artworks. In the navigation of the map on the left you can find the several markers sorted by the categories and it´s possible to hide or fade these layers.
