BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA: Urbex Gornja Presjenica – Abandoned Hotel Igman – Lost Place Graffiti

The Hotel Igman is a lost place building complex located on Mount Igman near Sarajevo. It was designed by architect and painter Ahmed Džuvić for the 1984 Winter Olympics and built between 1981 and 1983. The striking building is an example of late-modern Yugoslav architecture, with strong Brutalist elements and influences from Scandinavian and traditional Dinaric architecture. Its massive geometric form and distinctive roof structure combine with natural materials and the surrounding alpine landscape.

During the Bosnian War, the hotel was heavily damaged and subsequently abandoned. Today, the ruins have become a significant lost place and a destination for the urbex community. Among destroyed interiors, exposed concrete, overgrown sections and traces of the war, numerous graffiti pieces have emerged, adding a contemporary layer to the former Olympic landmark. The site brings together Olympic history, Yugoslav modernism, war and urban subculture in one place. Big Thank You goes to the artist and good friend SAŠA PEŠEVSKI, who showed us this fascinating forgotten world. Here is a photo collection divided into different sections of the area.
