Renée Claude
Renée Claude (1939-2020) is a singer and incidentally an actress from Quebec. She began her career in 1955 by winning a prize awarded to a young talent. A talented interpreter, she sang, from 1960 on the famous show La Boîte à chanson, Ferré, Brassens, Brel, Bécaud and company. In the 1970s, she reached her peak and became a very popular star in Quebec. Michel Conte, Luc Plamondon, Stéphane Venne write songs for her. During the 80s and 90s, Renée Claude was very present on several levels. Music, opera, tribute concerts, cinema, television. She marks Quebec culture in its own way and for a long time. After a quieter period, she released a last double disc in 2006. This disc brings together all the songs written for her by the great Luc Plamondon. Renée Claude unfortunately died of Covid-19 in May 2020 in a home for people with loss of autonomy. This vicious disease robbed us of one of our greatest performers. – Patrice Loranger
