Gilles Vigneault

An important figure in Quebec folklore, Gilles Vigneault is probably the singer who has sung and best described the territory and the soul and nature of the Quebec people. Gilles Vigneault was born in 1928 in Natashquan, a small village at the end of the Côte-Nord road. He began as a songwriter in the 50s. From the 60s, he began to interpret his own compositions. Very associated with the movement for the sovereignty of Quebec, he composed a song: Gens du pays, which is often considered the national anthem of Quebec.  –  Patrice Loranger
