Greece / StreetartAfter the first days in Thessaloniki I just had no idea anymore how to categorize, sort or edit the pictures later. I just had thousands of pics and the whole city is literally a huge street gallery. On every alley, on every house, on every something, even on the trees – Yes on trees! – you can find spray can doings and marker writings. Altogether it is one social art phenomenon, a way of expression and nice to observe, to document, to read and to understand how the habitants change their surrounding. If you look closer you can divide this huge house and wall painting cover which lies like a curtain over the whole city. There are areas where it is more packed, like at the university, downtown and in the center, as well you can find in between whole concept houses, high quality group artworks and of course the brilliantly made and enormous mighty murals, which cover the walls of whole 10-level apartment buildings and even higher. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
Netherlands / StreetartUtrecht was really fun. Besides the openness and friendliness of the people living there, there is the vibrant urban culture, the art scene and a quite interesting infrastructure. Utrecht has a lot to offer! The city perfectly combines modernity and antiquity and impresses with some old and futuristic buildings. A symbiosis of construction, architecture and street art raises Utrecht to a high quality level. The city absolutely stands for diversity, openness and connection and has a place in my heart. There are also Brouwers at the Albert Heyn. Brouwers is a fantastic beer brand with cult potential in scene circles. And a way beer for the city tour should always be in it. Drinking in public may be expensive in the Netherlands though. If the cops catch you in public, they charge 50 Euros. That’s why it’s always good to have festivals in the city to get around the problem. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

Serbia / StreetartOn the banks of the Danube in Belgrade is a former factory with monumental silos at a height of 28 meters, the so called SILOSI. The building complex is constructed like honeycombs and consists of a total of 64 cells, but work was stopped many years ago and the site has lain fallow ever since. This landmark of brutalist architecture has been given a new lease of life thanks to the GAIA POKRET movement with several creative spaces, but the highlight are certainly the large murals that have gradually been painted in the lofty heights. >>> READ MORE   [...] Read more...
Germany / PainterEverybody in his or hers environment has annoying and stress-inducing people and everyone is determined to deal with these individuals in different strategies and in their own way, which sometimes makes life difficult. One ignores, the next argues, others react in sport. Jessica Marquardt aka Jay Gnomenfrau (=Gnome Woman) has discovered a very creative way of dealing with these so-called “Ass Angels” (=”Arschengel”) and turning that into her passion for painting. Art acts as a valve and serves as a personal exploration of one’s own emotions. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

Chile / Nature / SportsHere we have an fabulous recommendation for bicycle riders, mountainbike fans and off road tourers from the end of the world. While we traveled through Chile from north to south we had a break in San Pedro de Atacama. It´s a good spot to chill in the hot climate, as well you can do a lot of outdoor activities. Like crossing a part of the desert by mountain bike for example. There are beautiful trails which offer a relatively bleak and monochrome landscape and provide in conjunction with the sun just a stunning picture. Of course, it is not nearly desolate, the mountain formations are just blatant. But the colors change accordingly to the sunlight and the overall scenario is very overwhelming. If you should do the same with a good mountain bike, remember that the “routes” are not always real routes. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
Germany / Photography / StreetartThe photographer Jörg Udo Kuberek, or just “Fotojörg” for short, started documenting Frankfurt graffiti and street paintings at the end of the 1980s. In the beginning there were political slogans on facades or funny slogans on toilet walls, but soon the passionate motivational seeker came across the colorful wild style, characters and just the right graffiti. Over the years, several thousand pictures from the Main metropolis and the region have accumulated – you’d have to print it! The idea for the Mainstyle magazine was born, but initially only seven print editions in black and white were published at the beginning of the 90s. To be exactly, the first one went out on 24th of July in 1990. After a short break with various photo exhibitions on urban street art, but also on other themes such as “Abandoned Places”, Fotojörg went online with Mainstyle in 2011. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
