Giovanni Melchiorre Bosco, or simply Don Bosco, was born on August 16th 1815 in Becchi near Castelnuovo and died on January 31st 1888 in Turin. He was a Catholic priest, youth pastor and founder of a religious order. Don Bosco was beatified by the Church in 1929 and canonized in 1934. Local artist GIANFRANCO ABRAMO, better known as ENCS 18, created this seven-metre high portrait mural in his memory. The artwork is on a building at the Campi da Calcetto soccer pitch, on the corner of Via Giacomo Dina and Corso Unione Sovietica. Be sure also to take a look at the graffiti walls with works from the great URBAN JAM, which are located in front of the mural as a boundary to the sports field.
