Spain / StreetartAlicante is a lively port city on the Costa Blanca in southeastern Spain with a population of around 330.000. The city’s landmarks include the Castillo de Santa Bárbara, towering high above the sea and offering impressive views of the coast, the palm-lined Explanada de España promenade with its characteristic mosaic floor, and the 17th-century Concatedral de San Nicolás. The streets are also decorated with urban art, from large murals to graffiti and smaller pieces. Check out the photos! >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
Asia / Laos / StreetartActually I wanted to call it crapper-graffitis, the word is a bit too vulgar for the headline, but I just can´t get it out of my head and during the whole journey we really called this awesome artwork crapper graffitis all the time. In fact it was graffiti on crappers. Toilet graffiti sounded too western and too functioning, it were more some lavatory rooms far away from modern society on some islands without streets and with farmers, who rent some rooms to travelers and backpackers. Two-holer, outhouse or privy isn´t the right word as well, neither shithouse, because they all have some flush and lavation system. So let it be crapper. But in the end it isn´t important what you do at these places, much more what you can see on the outside walls… >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

Accommodation / Asia / Gastro / VietnamVietnam is famous for its delicious cuisine, the marvelous beaches, the jungle or as well for the remains of the underground tunnel system from the war. But the country is for sure not famous for Reggae Music. Let´s see…. maybe just not yet! Actually everything you need for this lifestyle is perfectly there. You just need someone, who is going to establish the concept. Exactly this idea had the former Berliner and now Vietnam citizen Herby. He opened the Reggae chillspot „Little Kingston Beach Bar“ in the beach village Mũi Né. Herby is Reggae DJ since 20 years and lives since five years in Vietnam. The first three years he was resident DJ and manager in several clubs in Saigon, after quite a while he finally found a perfect place for his own project. We visited him and relaxed at the comfy hammock area at his beach bar location while we recorded an interview about the origin and development of the place. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
History / LaosAfter leaving Vientiane on our way to the 4000 Islands in the South of Laos we passed a monumental and historic treasure site you shouldn´t miss if you are around. The local name is Xieng Khuan, but the English words for this area make it self-explanatory for what it’s about. The Buddha Park is a park filled up with over 200 Hindu and Buddhist statues. There are several Buddhas spread across the square, as well scenes from ancient legends and numerous gods and goddesses. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

History / JapanDuring our tour of Japan we made a stop in the historical-idyllic city of Kurashiki (Japanese ? ? ?, -shi). The Edo-era merchant town is located in Okayama prefecture and the former Bitch? province of Honshu, the main island of Japan. Kurashiki means something like „village from warehouses“. There are still dozens of buildings (Kura) preserved, which represent a symbol of the city due to their typical facades. It’s worth a visit. It is best to stay for a few days in the nearby Okayama and make a day trip by train to the cultural site. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

Serbia / StreetartOn the banks of the Danube in Belgrade is a former factory with monumental silos at a height of 28 meters, the so called SILOSI. The building complex is constructed like honeycombs and consists of a total of 64 cells, but work was stopped many years ago and the site has lain fallow ever since. This landmark of brutalist architecture has been given a new lease of life thanks to the GAIA POKRET movement with several creative spaces, but the highlight are certainly the large murals that have gradually been painted in the lofty heights. >>> READ MORE   [...] Read more...

Belgium / StreetartAround 188,000 residents live in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, but the entire metropolitan region comprises around 1.2 million people. There is of course plenty to see, great art and culture, and also urban art. Especially the Comic Book Route shows a collection of murals with famous comic characters and scenes, also during the festivals BALKAN TRAFIK or LA BELLE HIP HOP several great artworks were made. In terms of architecture from older times, you should take a look at the Royal Palace, in contrast to the Atomium as a monument to progress and a remnant of the 1958 World Expo. The Grote Markt is certainly stylish and sublime again, as is the small, roguish Manneken Pis, a urinating landmark of the city that makes you smile. >>> READ MORE   [...] Read more...

Serbia / StreetartIn southwest Belgrade, along Bulevar Vojvode Mišića, the tram line also runs besides the southern side, branching off at the point where the main highway merges with Radnićka highway and combines into a complex traffic junction. From the southward crossing, the tram line follows its own path, and the walls are home to some fantastic graffiti and urban art. It often happens that construction work is taking place at this route and the trams don’t operate for several days or even weeks. But this is ideal for creating larger works in this location. Britain / MusicCarl Marah and Scott Rough are listening to music since they were little children, but the Swinging Sixties just got into their heads and kept on pushing them to the stage. They wanted to produce and play what they love. In 2014 the two 60s music lovers started to do gigs with musician Mick Reilly about the sound of this era. It was the foundation of the fantastic band Logan´s Close. Drums, two guitars, lead and rhythm, and their voices was quite alright for the beginning, but surely there was something missing. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
Norway / StreetartThis district is also simply wonderful and offers its own great multicultural diversity! Together with the district of Tøyen, Grønland is a central area for immigrants and migrants in Oslo. The percentage of migration in Grønland is around 40%. That means there’s something going on here! Here the mixture of cultural diversity, choice and possibilities is right. Here, too, real life takes place on the street. From the main station to the north you can stroll along the river AKERSELVA. In summer, the green areas are full. Many people do sports, drink beer, chill out, picnic, barbecue, listen to music and relax around the river. Of course, some finished figures also run around, because they continuously pop it too pure. It’s noticeable. The atmosphere is still very peaceful. Within five minutes, I had four different leaders who offered their services to me. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
