Gastro / Greece / StreetartThe Kapani Market is one the most traditional markets in Thessaloniki. It serves the needs of the consumers since the Ottoman occupation in the beginning of the 15th century. The whole area is covered with single shops who offer regional vegetables and fruits, great spices, various types of meat and fish, and of course the famous Greek olives in numerous sorts. If you like streetart you should as well go especially on a Sunday, because then you will see what is hidden on the shop doors. They are just all covered with graffiti, tagging and paint. Some well done, some not that nice, but still it´s full of it. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

Israel / Performance / SocialThis is the story of Shoshke. A super heroine brought to life. And it’s probably one of the weirdest and funniest but above all most motivating stories here on this channel so far. The creator himself, namely the Israeli artist Zeev Engelmayer repeatedly takes on the role of his self-designed comic super heroine. Then he just becomes Shoshke in a special costume. An idea for an artistic performance has developed into an unbridled dynamic of its own and an independent character within Zeev’s psyche. That´s Shoshke. It´s not schizophrenic, more like a symbiosis. Zeev loves it and he frequently is setting her free. Because Shoshke makes always and every few days crazy but fabulous actions. Currently, according to Marker Magazine “She” is one of the 100 most influential people in Israel. And we need some more Shoshkes on this world! She fights for the good and important things. Take some time for this article. It’s going to be strange and complex, but for sure as well funny and super interesting. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

Argentina / StreetartA huge fantastic mural in homage to Gilda, Guinzburg, Calabró and Mores at the Paso Bajo Level of Avenida Nazca displays images on its walls to remember these four illustrious neighbors of Commune 11. The enormous artwork was created in 2018. Gilda, Jorge Guinzburg, Juan Carlos Calabró and Mariano Mores lived in Commune 11. They were popular icons that stood out in different disciplines and the city of Buenos Aires wanted to pay tribute to them with this mural painted on the walls of one of the most important works from the neighborhood: the Paso Bajo Nivel on Nazca Avenue and the San Martín railroad tracks. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

Norway / StreetartThis district is also simply wonderful and offers its own great multicultural diversity! Together with the district of Tøyen, Grønland is a central area for immigrants and migrants in Oslo. The percentage of migration in Grønland is around 40%. That means there’s something going on here! Here the mixture of cultural diversity, choice and possibilities is right. Here, too, real life takes place on the street. From the main station to the north you can stroll along the river AKERSELVA. In summer, the green areas are full. Many people do sports, drink beer, chill out, picnic, barbecue, listen to music and relax around the river. Of course, some finished figures also run around, because they continuously pop it too pure. It’s noticeable. The atmosphere is still very peaceful. Within five minutes, I had four different leaders who offered their services to me. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
Bulgaria / Culturists / History / StreetartOn our last trip we went to the Balkan for some days, more precisely to Bulgaria and it´s beautiful capital Sofia. The weather was kind of unfavorable, from rain to little snow storms, but still we could explore this interesting city extensively and brought you a lot of marvelous streetart fotos and graffiti material. The country and the city looks back over 6000 years of history shaped by a lot of different cultures during the centuries. Everywhere you can find protected monuments and archaeological excavation originated from the Roman Empire, which were found during road work or tunnel bores. The medieval Bulgaria is everywhere integrated in newer buildings, you can see architecture from the Ottoman occupation and everywhere in between there is the distinctive Eastern Bloc design of the communism. All of this commingles in different ways with the modern Bulgaria. Very cool! >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
Laos / StreetartDon Det is a little island in the Mekong River and part of the Si Phan Don archipelago or also called “4000 Islands”. Basically those are not real islands on the open sea, but large sandbanks in the river, which becomes very wide on the way to the Khon Phapheng Waterfalls further south. In addition to the interview with local artist BASILE MORIN and the interesting collection of Toilet Graffiti, there are a lot of other beautiful works of art on the island. Many visitors from all over the world leave great creations on the huts and bungalows with the permission of the locals. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

Germany / StreetartThe streetart photographer Alexej Roth from Heilbronn collected great photos of urban art during a trip to the town of Halle an der Saale, means next to the Saale river. Most of the artworks are located around Landsberg Street at the FREIRAUMGALERIE. For years the buildings around have been abandoned and the area was kind of a lost place. The artists brought life to it again. Not only with amazing paintings all over, there is even an artistic playground area where everybody can add some wood and be part of the creation process. It’s an alternative colorful place which you can admire by looking at, but further more the concept motivates you to take part in creating. Check out the photo gallery. >>> READ MORE   [...] Read more...

Illustration / Music / USAI stumbled over this fantastic and in multiple fields active artist because of his funny and crazy collages. Seeing them over and over, these odd and stupid characters made me just laugh and these artworks became like a little comic strip series. Marc Kennedy did these visual objects by cutting, preparing and replacing photos while he had a little break from recording a row of his songs. He published as well a book and is producing cool t-shirts, but mainly he is a musician. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
Japan / MusicToday we have some more insight into the Japanese music scene and here is an article about a cool record store in Osaka. I wrote already about the Drum & Bass events in the land of the rising sun. In that previous article is an interview with the UNSALTED founder and organisator Munetoshi Maruyama or just Maru. For recording that interview we needed a place to meet with Maru and DJ Fetus, they suggested the place G.R. Café Terrace. First I thought I would be just a small café or a bar. Actually it is, but as well much more. The place is the homebase of the labels Grind Records and Undergrind. There is a record store included, a lounge where you can get several cocktails and craft beers and as well delicious food. They have cloths and streetwear, magazines and dj equipment and a room where you can get a bit louder and use this dj equipment, make sounds and dance. And of course there are heaps of vinyls and records. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

Ireland / StreetartIn terms of infrastructure, Liberty Lane is actually just a small side street behind the houses on the main street. A small hidden alley. From an artistic perspective, however, it is simply one of the city’s main spots, full of color from top to bottom and littered with grandiose works of art. From big to small! The artworks change here continuously, after a week it can look completely different again. It’s just a fantastic little hidden open air gallery. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
