SPAIN: Streetart Sagunt – MÉS QUE MURS – Urban Art Festival in Camp de Morvedre

Sagunt or Sagunto is a historic city on the east coast of Spain with approximately 67.000 inhabitants and belongs to the Autonomous Community of Valencia. Its history dates back over 2.000 years and then known as “Saguntum”, it was an important Iberian and later Roman city. The location became famous for its siege in 219 BC by Hannibal, an event that led to the Second Punic War between Rome and Carthage. Today, Sagunt combines industry, port economy, and tourism. Among the most important sights are the imposing Castillo de Sagunto castle, which stretches for almost a kilometer on a hill, the well-preserved Roman theater from the 1st century BC, the winding old town with its historic alleys and squares, and the nearby Sierra Calderona Natural Park. There are also many great works of art to be found in the streets, as the annual MÉS QUE MURS urban art festival has been held here since its inception in 2016, with local, national, and international artists creating large-format murals, graffiti, and wall paintings that enrich the cityscape with color. In addition, exhibitions, workshops, and open events take place in public spaces. We just started this page for Sagunt with great photos by the NOMADS ON WHEELS.
