Navajas is a small municipality in the province of Castellón with a population of around 750. The town is picturesquely situated in the valley of the Palancia River and is particularly known for its natural surroundings. Its landmark is the impressive Salto de la Novia waterfall, which plunges about 30 meters and is accompanied by a romantic legend. In addition to the waterfall, historic 19th-century villas, narrow streets, and the Virgen de la Luz parish church characterize the townscape. The disused Vía Verde de Ojos Negros railway line, now a popular cycling and hiking trail, also runs through Navajas, making it an attractive destination for nature lovers and active vacationers. Centro de Interpretación Salto de la Novia – CLAPZ
This artwork from 2025 was made at the Bajada al Salto de la Novia on Plaza del Matadero as a commemorative mural for the 100th anniversary of the expansion of the town’s municipal boundaries for the El Olmo de Navajas Agricultural Cooperative.
CAPZ about the artwork: „Once again, another year painting in the town where I grew up. Many thanks to the Navajas Town Hall and the Department of Culture for trusting me again. It’s always a pleasure to continue illustrating my town year after year. These have been days of hard work, but also of wonderful reunions, wild hikes, and much-needed peace in these times. The mural is now open to everyone who wants to visit it, at the start of the descent to the Bride’s Leap, the most enchanting spot in the entire Alto Palancia region.“ – CAPZ
