A “DIY Skatepark”, or “Do It Yourself”, is a skate spot mostly on abandoned or disused land and local skaters and collectives actually build these spaces, take care of the park and do the administration in self-organization. These are often tolerated by the respective city, but the skaters carry out the maintenance themselves. One such relatively new skate park in Barcelona is the PICNIC DIY in the district Poblenou at Calle de Carmen Amaya close to the beach. The area is an awesome playground for everybody who likes to ride any kind of skate vehicles and if you want to support the park development, there is also a crowdfunding campaign for new modules and ramps. As usual with skateparks, also this hot spot is covered with countless great graffiti and new ones are created regularly.
