Pokhara Theater
Pokhara Theatre is a community-based theatre organization founded in 2016 in Pokhara. It produces original plays, adapts classical works, and organizes theatre festivals. The initiative began when a group of local artists came together, with regular performances starting in 2018. Through operating the Gandharba Theatre, which is the city’s only modern black box theatre, it has become a key cultural institution in the region.
Its repertoire includes both modern dramas and classical adaptations, such as Siruma Rani (2017) by Sarubhakta, Atal Bahadur Ko Atanka (2018) by Khagendra Lamichhane, Nirmaya (2019) by Sarubhakta, Yo Kasto Mahabharat (2019) by Deepak Parajuli, Ek Chihan (2019) by Hriday Chandra Singh Pradhan, and Urvashi Sukta (2023) by Shiva Sankalpa.
