Chabahil is a historic neighborhood in the eastern part of Kathmandu and is considered one of the oldest inhabited areas in the Valley. The most important landmark is the Chabahil Stupa, also known as the Charumati Stupa. According to legend, it was built in the 3rd century BC by a daughter of the Indian emperor Ashoka, making it one of the oldest stupas in Nepal. The surrounding area includes small monasteries, temples, and local markets. Compared to central Kathmandu, Chabahil is less touristy and provides a more authentic atmosphere. Of course also here you can find urban artworks. Especially on schools or kindergardens are often colorful wall paintings along the facades.
