Outside the Chinese Mall there are several kiosks selling different products; for example, crafts, perfumes, books and a lot more. All the kiosks are painted blue on all four sides. Andrea San Martín, owner of one of these kiosks, sells books under the name Librería Esperanza. Andrea decided to reinitiate her business. Among the main ideas, was to decorate and highlight her kiosk. Since Andrea was already familiar with ZEN’s work, she contacted him to have his artwork featured on the kiosk, thus making it stand out.
On the side of the kiosk facing the street, the side that isn’t open to the public, ZEN painted an open book with the name Librería Esperanza (Hope Bookstore), held aloft by a cat. On the side facing the sidewalk, where the kiosk is open to the public, ZEN painted a little girl lying in nature, reading a book. A real magnet to draw young readers in to find their own books.
