ZEN, the father of the character Smile, created the first graffiti festival ever held in Angol! He looked for sponsors, spoke with the Municipality, and with the support of musician OUCLASS and the culture center FRONTERA SUR, he organized and convened the NAHUELBUTA GRAFF FESTIVAL between February 23rd and 24th in 2024. ZEN also designed the NAHUELBUTA GRAFF account on Instagram, planned and created the event flyer “Encuentro Cultural de Graffiti” and began his project by calling for graffiti artists and musicians, whose names are on the flyer.
The place of this 1st Angol graffiti festival is a football and basketball field that is not marked on any official plan or Google map, although the sport field has been in the Nahuelbuta neighborhood for more than 10 years. It is located at the corner of the streets Cerro Negro and Maiterrehue on the edge of a ravine where the Rehue River passes. During the two days of festival, there was also hip hop and urban music, plus techno with DJs.
The first art shown is the graffiti with waves on a green background, the work of MOKA.
Next on the perpendicular wall is CHEZ’s magical eye, where we see him working with many colors creating universes and planets that surround the eye.
Next we have a flop by KUSH aka WOLFKING93.
Then we have the sequence in the creation of the graffiti by DIBERZO and in the middle the two famous Simpson’s characters Itchy and Scratchy, a mouse which is killing a cat in numerous episodes of the comic series.
Above is a large flop that says RUSLE, in honor of the name of a crew by the artist STORK.
Just below the letter “e” of that big flop, we find one of the two collaborations that ZEN did, here with his character Smile using a spray can.
Next, we can see a large geometric graffiti by FUGAS that also includes the black bomb with a wick.
At the following graffiti we can see different stages of a black and white flop surrounded by a red line, done by FERONE.
Then, BIRD’s graffiti is a woman with intense eyes and her hands next to her light blue cheeks.
Finally, reaching the vertex of the wall, there is a three-dimensional graffiti by GEP.
Continuing on the next wall, we have a round being that launches rays, the work of CROKIZ, as seen in the photo with the Instagram account written at the top.
Next there is a flop that says HAMEN made by ESTEBAN ZAPATA, and in the photos you can see that it was the first graffiti made on that entire wall.
This wall ends with a grazed woman made by MANÍA.
On another wall that overlooks the ravine through which the Rehue River passes, you can see DYRE with the Montana shirt that says 94, referring to the legendary 94ers Cans Series. On the photo you see him beginning the creation of a character on the left and a little further on the right he created the character Angelica Charlotte Pickles from the comic series Rugrats.
In the middle of both figures, you can see the sequence of the creation of the flop BYB by BYB.
On the farthest wall from the sport field and main venue of the festival, the members of the M26 CREW were located, young teenagers from Angol who are the future crop of graffiti artists. We start with BLODY, who shows the design on paper he made for this occasion, and then the different steps he took to finish his graffiti.
On the next photo you can see BLODY helping BAWONE on his lightblue flop with yellow and orange balloons.
We also see GILLO from behind and facing his yellow flop with blue foam.
Additionally, we have SHAKO’s flop in various stages of creation.
At both ends of this wall there are different collaborations from the great M26 CREW from Angol.
At the top and behind the sport field, we have a flop by BAWONE next to a flop by BLODY.
Then there is a flop that says RIE, done by CHEZ.
Next to the graffiti follows a female head created by MANÍA.
Then we have a yellow flop that says TONS, corresponding to the TONS CREW, a work of PABLO ANTAY.
The last graffiti which has the signature “NAHUELBUTA GRAFF 2024” in a corner, it is the collective creation by ZEN done together with the help of children and anonymous collaborators from the neighborhood who participated in this first and fantastic graffiti festival in Angol.
The last photos are tags and anonymous works. Curiously, the last three photos are of the only graffiti that was in the place before this festival, and still remain in the same place.
