CHILE: Streetart Angol – Caupolicán 901 – PRI

This graffiti is connected with COSTANERA REHUE 500 (SKATE PARK), since one of the characters mentioned there is the creator of the Historical Museum of Angol, inaugurated at the beginning of the 21st century by Hugo “Fito” Gallegos, his creator and director. This historical museum has an important collection of objects and artifacts of Angol, founded by Pedro de Valdivia in 1553.

This interesting mural or large graffiti on the history of Angol was made by PRI (Priscila Fernández Tillería). She captures the highlights of the history of Angol: the flora and fauna of the region, the presence of the Mapuche people and even the feat of Alberto Larraguibel and his horse Huaso.

It can be appreciated that this monumental graffiti by PRI, faithfully reflects the history of Angol, its heritage and traditions, all elements that can be found inside the museum thanks to the important collection. The graffiti shows a worldview of Angol: the ancestral Mapuche people, part of the fauna and European heritage, all what constitutes Angol, located in the Araucanía region, Chile.

Chemamull is a carved wooden statue of the Mapuche people, used for funeral rites. Here the #chemamull appears behind the woman. Then you see a Mapuche warrior with a red cape and behind him the Spanish forts that began to populate the Mapuche territory or Wallmapu.

The fauna of Angol can be seen in the graffiti. For example, a puma and two pudus (the world’s smallest deer) were drawn by PRI.

Then, Capitan Larraguibel, born in Angol, and his horse Huaso jumped a record at 2.7 meters (8.1 feet) in 1949. Since then, many attempts to break that record had fail. Today, taking into account horse “rights”, nobody is willing to attempt that jump due to the safeguard and integrity of the horse.
