On the west side of the Dasarath Rangasala Stadium along the street Kanti Path in Kathmandu, a long mural depicting various sports was completed in 2024. The project was carried out in collaboration between the KATHMANDU METROPOLITAN CITY, in short KMC, and the NEPAL ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS, in short NAFA, which oversaw the artistic coordination and selected local artist teams. Work began in spring 2024, following an official agreement between KMC and NAFA in February, and was completed by late autumn that year. The long wall painting features various sports genres, but as well local children plays or traditional activities and board games. The Dasarath Rangasala Stadium is Nepal’s largest stadium, with a capacity of approximately 15.000 spectators. It was opened in 1956 and serves as a national sports center, which hosts besides mostly football also athletics, rugby, volleyball, badminton and several other sport events. It is a venue for important national and international competitions, including matches of the Nepal national football team.
