In this collection, we’ve included all the works that were literally painted on the wall, whether with a brush, a spray can, by hand or whatever. But the key is that the paint is applied directly to the wall. And of course, most of the designs feature penguins, true to the neighborhood’s title, which is also why it’s come to be known by that name. Originally, it was about people walking slowly who looked like penguins from the far, but in a creative way, the residents have adopted this nickname as a label, and there are colorful, funny penguins everywhere. They convey messages and make people smile; the children, in particular, are thrilled in an amusing way and creatively inspired. This is what a neighborhood should look like! Check out as well the several other creative categories via the main page of the Gwangju Penguin Village.
