Busan is a city where art exists beyond the confines of museums and galleries. Besides several streetart and graffiti works, you can also find creative sculptures of all kind. There are abstract installations, modern pop up statues, funny figurines or traditional monuments. It’s an interesting mix and fits well with the city landscape, and often a funny statue on the corner gives a smile and makes your day while having a walk. This fusion of city, art, and landscape has a long tradition in Busan, ranging from the internationally oriented Sea Art Festival, the outdoor sculptures of the Busan Biennale, and the UN Sculpture Park to temporary works like the Sand Festival at Haeundae Beach, which are the subject of a separate article.
