Streetart / SwedenTrollhättan is a town with 59.000 inhabitants and is located in the western Swedish province of Västra Götalands. Worth seeing are the neo-Gothic church, the historic canal or the stone box of Sjökullen. Sweden’s third largest gold treasure was found here during archaeological excavations, but the city’s real gems are on the house walls in the form of urban art. Several murals were created especially during the TROLLHÄTTAN STREETART FESTIVAL, which was held on the occasion of the city’s 100th anniversary in 2016. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
BoliviaTupiza is the central city in the department of Potosí in the south of Bolivia which is located just in the middle of the Andeans. As well it was our start to a fantastic journey through the mountain desert with phenomenal landscape views and amazing meetings with freak out rock formations. The next days could have been as well on planet Mars. We just arrived from Argentina and went to the bus station to check the options for the next steps of our travels. But there was no bus, at least none in the next eight hours. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
France / StreetartIn the north of Nice in the municipality of Castagniers, between the Vallon de Massac and the Vallon de Roguez, lies the city’s necropolis with its cemetery and cremation site. The water flows from the mountain towards the foot of the Var river via the two Vallons and above the Necropolis area the inflow is channeled into a concreted canal. This can carry a lot of water at peak times, but often it is simply empty. So of water, but not of color. Because the walls are filled with great graffiti which have accumulated over many years. It is definitely a historic urban art place and off the beaten track. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

Oman / StreetartWith this country we were really faced with a whole new challenge. Find graffiti and street art in Oman? … Hmmm … is there anything like that? First of all, we can say that so much can be found in architectural art and in a beautiful natural landscape. But with murals it looks more difficult. The whole sultanate consists almost entirely of desert and in the cities everything is kept very „uniform“ and regulated. Nevertheless, Oman is one of the more open and liberal countries on the Arabian Peninsula, worth a visit. And we still found some graffiti stuff, but then you have to look very carefully. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

Nature / South AfricaOn a trip to South Africa and Cape Town, the picturesque Cape of Good Hope is of course one of the main spots you should have seen. The spectacularly shaped peninsula between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans rises like an arrow into the maritime border area and frames a paradisiac white sandy beach, where turquoise blue waves break. We stayed for a few days in Mothercity, as Cape Town is often called, and explored the region by rental car. As far as you can handle the traffic on the left, this is probably the cheapest and most flexible exploration opportunity. Of course, many things also go by public transport and countless tours and day trips are offered, but if you want to avoid the big tourist crowds and prefer a free time schedule, then we clearly recommend the rental car. The easiest way to book the vehicle you want at Avis, Europcar, Budget, Tempest or Thrifty is to pick up and drop off directly at the airport. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
Argentina / StreetartThe province of Córdoba, renowned for its natural beauty and traditions, is also a hotbed of artistic expression that emerges on its streets. Urban art in this area isn’t confined to conventional galleries; walls, facades, and public spaces transform into stages of expression where every brushstroke tells a story. Bold murals, laden with symbolism and inviting reflection, stand as a testament to local identity. With vibrant color palettes, these artistic interventions communicate both tradition and modernity, turning each neighborhood into an open gallery accessible to all. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

Architecture / Colombia / HistoryBarichara is a municipality in the department of Santander and famous for its “Hormigas” – grilled and spice-flavoured ants. Yes, ANTS! Of course we tried some! The little village is located in the province of Guanentá at an altitude of about 1280 and close to San Gil. It´s a perfect dinner stop when you travel between Venezuela and Colombia. The colonial architecture is unique and well preserved. Here you can imagine how it was some centuries ago, the buildings and plazas didn´t change much. Around the city are wonderful mountains to explore, several hike routes are possible. If you are in a rush, stay the afternoon, try the Hormigas and check out the pueblo. If you have more time, stay for one or two nights. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
Albania / Architecture / HistoryAfter we had left Tirana our first stop was the big city Durrës at the Adriatic coast of Central Albania. Durrës is the most important port city in the country and therefore an economic centre. In terms of population, Durrës is the second largest city in the country after the capital Tirana, 30 km away, and the official seat of the Qark of the same name. Durrës and Tirana together form a metropolitan region. We could find a lot of nice street art here, but the historic buildings from antiquity and the Middle Ages, mixed with modern architecture, are also quite astonishing. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
