NORWAY: Streetart Stavanger - Graffiti and Urban Art Collection

Stavanger is located in southwestern Norway in the province of Rogaland and has a population of around 130.000. The city is known as the center of the Norwegian oil and gas industry with the highly recommended Norsk Ojemuseum, but is also appreciated for its proximity to nature with the fjords and its maritime history. Worth seeing are Gamle Stavanger, the historic old town with white wooden houses from the 18th and 19th centuries, “Sverd i fjell” with monumental swords in the rock, commemorating the Battle of Hafrsfjord and the unification of Norway, and Preikestolen, one of the country’s most famous rock formations with breathtaking views over the Lysefjord. „Sistercities Houston and Stavanger“ – GONZO247

This artwork was created in 2018 by Houston artist GONZO247 in honor of the city partnership with Stavanger. The partnership was officially established in 1980, making it the 38th anniversary of the sister cities that year.

Celebrating Houston and Stavanger being sister cities with mural art that stands 25 feet x 40 feet. All the artistically represented swirls and organic motion are the elements of the atmosphere around the plane while in flight. The colorful swirling around and the noise dynamically comes together in the art.“ – GONZO247
