Tilgüe is a small rural village on the island of Ometepe in the department of Rivas in southwestern Nicaragua with approximately 720 inhabitants who live in the vicinity of agriculture, small businesses, and nature-related activities between volcanic slopes and Lake Nicaragua. Historically, Tilgüe, like many places on Ometepe, has been shaped by the indigenous cultures of the region. The economic basis of the community is traditionally agriculture, especially the cultivation of beans, corn, rice, and plantains. Attractions and activities around Tilgüe include the Reserva Natural Ojo de Agua, a natural spring and bathing spot, then the volcanic lake and the volcano itself. And as everywhere where people live, creativity and urban art can be found in the streets. The photos were taken by MELITTA HORVATH. If you want to contribute to this project and if you also have photos of graffiti and streetart from this location, send them to info@vagabundler.com.
