“The university center C.U.U.N. UNAN LEÓN symbolizes the heroic deeds of its Heroes and Martyrs: Mauricio Martinez, Sergio Saldana, José Rubí and Erich Ramirez, who were slaughtered by the bullets of the Somoza dictatorship on the afternoon of July 23rd, 1959. Their blood has the historical dignity of the Student Movement. After 53 years of struggle for freedom they are still with us to the present.”
