Santo Domingo is a small, nature-loving village on the island of Ometepe in the Rivas Department in southwestern Nicaragua. It is located on the narrow strip of land between the two volcanoes Concepción and Maderas and directly on the shore of Lake Nicaragua, where one of the island’s most beautiful beaches stretches for almost 4 km with a view of the volcanoes: Playa Santo Domingo. Historically, this region was settled by indigenous groups long before the Spanish arrived, as evidenced by cultural and archaeological traces on the island. In addition to the fascinating volcanic landscape, the natural attractions of Río Istian and the natural swimming spring Ojo de Agua are also recommended. And as well you can admire the urban artwork in the streets. The photos were taken by MELITTA HORVATH. If you want to contribute to this project and if you also have photos of graffiti and streetart from this location, send them to info@vagabundler.com.
