This category encompasses various types of urban art, but it focuses on canvas-like works. Most are framed and painted on different surfaces, such as wood, stone, or metal. Other images present framed photographs that are showing their age and have a somewhat stylishly weathered look, dating from the late 20th century. Essentially, these are works created like canvas paintings, complete with frames and hanging. We also have painted works on tiles on this page, which could have been also been included in the streetart category, but we put them here. Check out as well the several other creative categories via the main page of the Gwangju Penguin Village.

Photo Alley Project – Yangnim-dong Residents & Hakgang Elementary School – 2019

The creator about the project: „Having moved to Yangnim-dong in my twenties and now a grandmother, I created ‚Alley Stories‘ as a digital archive to preserve the passage of time, capturing the village’s history in digital cubes. The washboards once used in every home have now been replaced by washing machines. Children used to run and play in the alleyways, and the elementary school sports day some 30 years ago was a village festival. Yangnim-dong is a Modern History and Culture Village, and the stories of the people who have lived in these alleyways have become the culture and history of Yangnim-dong.“ The photographs were provided by Yangnim-dong residents and Hakgang Elementary School with support by the Cube Museum in May 2019.
