Welcome to Vagabundler!

A wonderful ragbag for alternative travelers and fans of creativity, especially urban art. On this platform you can find interesting reportages, detailed country or city maps and coverages on awesome artists. There is a whole section about interviews with unique people and their amazing work, as well about crazy events and interesting sustaining projects from all around the world. Meanwhile we have around 170.000 photos in our archive and we try to preserve some of this creativity with our documentation. All respect to the artists! As well to all the numerous people involved in this non profit project. We do this voluntarily because we love it and we want to support the art scene in general and socio-cultural understanding between us on this planet. If you find any mistakes or missing information, just send us a message. We are creating, building and changing on this website all the time – but – of course!  If there is free time…. we travel and explore!!!

Events / Germany / StreetartFrom October 16th till November 11th in 2023, the great urban art exhibition KUNSTTAGE took place in the Marktplatzcenter in Berlin’s Hellersdorf district. “Kunsttage” means “Art Days” in English. The event was organized by STEREOHEAT and SKENAR 73 together with the art agency FRAMELESS STUDIO. The location is a mall with many different stores, but there are currently a lot of empty spaces. Events / Germany / PainterThrough her collaboration with PANDION and TRANSIT RÄUME, artist GITA KURDPOOR started in January 2023 as the first resident to design a former cab Showroom in the Prinzessinnenstrasse in Berlin Kreuzberg with her art. Chile / Events / StreetartZEN, the father of the character Smile, created the first graffiti festival ever held in Angol! He looked for sponsors, spoke with the Municipality, and with the support of musician OUCLASS and the culture center FRONTERA SUR, he organized and convened the NAHUELBUTA GRAFF FESTIVAL between February 23rd and 24th in 2024. Numerous artists from Angol and the region participated and painted several awesome walls around a soccer field close to the Rehue River. Germany / Mexico / StylistI followed the photos of this fascinating artist lady on Instagram or Facebook for quite a while and always I thought those pictures are just damn cool, also very weird and often like from another world. The actress and creator of these scenarios with super stylish portraits is Dulce Ramirez. She currently lives in Heilbronn in Germany, but is actually from Mexico City. When she left her country about ten years ago, she did not only bring the cultural memory of the “Dia de los Muertos”, that means the “Day of the Dead”, but she also incorporated this theme into her art projects out of missing her home and from these first sparks of artistic development she designed a complete fashion queen of another kind. Ghana / SocialThe Christ the King of Kings School is located in the harbor community of Jamestown in Accra. It´s one of two schools which is trying to support the children and to give them with education more perspectives for the future. Principal Emmanuel Ashie founded the school in 1996 as a chréche mainly for the children of the fishermen in the neighborhood. Most of them cannot afford to pay these or any other school bills, so Ashie established a facility with free admission for these children. For his work he doesn´t get any governmental support. He started with only three children, first with a nursing part up till to a kindergarten school. It started growing, and first they sent the children to another school. The mission was to beautify the abandoned organic railway line between Guido and Funes. Malaysia / StreetartMalacca is a coastal city in southwestern Malaysia with a population of approximately 579,000 inhabitants. Special attractions are the 17th century Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, the Kampung Kling Mosque or Jonker Street in Chinatown with interesting antique stores and the famous night market. Atelier / Italy / StreetartIn June 2021 the fantastic exhibition “Streetart in Blu 3” opened its doors in the Teatro Colosseo with artworks from the famous leading urban artists BANKSY, BLU and ROBERT DEL NAJA aka 3D. The show rooms of the contemporary and alternative art museum at Via Madame Cristina 71 in Turin were peppered with magnificent creations made by those three masterminds. On information boards or on digital and audiovisual info screens, visitors were able to find out about the backgrounds of the works and makers. Additionally they showed an exciting interview with gallerist Steve Lazarides made by Andrea Olcese for the famous magazine Artibune. Actually they are selling all the equipment in their creative shop, as well they are familiar with the streets because they frequently paint themselves wonderful pieces and huge murals around the city and make their surrounding more colorful. Streetart / SwedenThe former Wargöns AB paper mill is located on the Göta Älv river in the southwest of Sweden near the municipality of Vargön. After its closure in 2008, a large part of the building complex was demolished, but the entrance portal with the wolf in the firm emblem still shows witness to the former company. Therefore, the place is also called “Wolf Island”. Today, the site is a mysterious and almost magical lost place, covered from top to bottom with countless pieces of graffiti and streetart. Cinema / ItalyIn 2020 on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the opening of the National Cinema Museum at the Mole Antonelliana and the birth of the Turin Piedmont Film Commission, the Piedmontese capital was the ‘City of Cinema’. Germany / StreetartThe old post station in the Berlin district Spandau – the URBAN ART HALL – was a creative art space for many years and the outside walls became an urban gallery with wonderful creations. Colorful undertakings happend here, great events took place or frequently spray sessions and you could find masterpieces from local and international artists. Germany / PhotographyWe had the artist Niko Neuwirth in the studio at Radio X as a guest. A talented photographer and busy actor in the Frankfurt scene. Niko is a member of the Syndikat Artists, takes photos for the Landungsbrücken, is a studio neighbor of the Tanzhaus West, is currently rebuilding the Blaue Haus and continuously fills his creative photo series “Frankfurter Nächte“, “FACING EUROPE” and “Analog Frankfurt” with new ones works. Spain / Sports / StreetartA “DIY Skatepark”, or “Do It Yourself”, is a skate spot mostly on abandoned or disused land and local skaters and collectives actually build these spaces, take care of the park and do the administration in self-organization. One such relatively new skate park in Barcelona is the PICNIC DIY in the district Poblenou at Calle de Carmen Amaya close to the beach. Germany / StreetartThe streetart photographer Alexej Roth from Heilbronn collected great photos of urban art during a trip to the town of Halle an der Saale, means next to the Saale river. Most of the artworks are located around Landsberg Street at the FREIRAUMGALERIE. For years the buildings around have been abandoned and the area was kind of a lost place. The artists brought life to it again. Not only with amazing paintings all over, there is even an artistic playground area where everybody can add some wood and be part of the creation process. It’s an alternative colorful place which you can admire by looking at, but further more the concept motivates you to take part in creating. Netherlands / StreetartA very cool new street art spot in the center of Amsterdam opened its doors not long ago! It’s called the Secret Garden and you can access this hidden gem via Nicholas Groente & Fruit at Sint Nicolaasstraat 19. It’s a cute little shop that sells high quality artisanal (food) products and art. As well they have comics, books, posters and prints. The lovely store is run by Brian and the little associated backyard gallery called Secret Garden has meanwhile 50 artworks and still counting! The entrance is free for everyone. Germany / Painter / PerformanceWalking cyborg creatures, pixeled astronauts or simply diagonally painted bodies – the wacky performances of the artist collective “Die Segel” from Frankfurt are breathtaking productions that captivate visitors in a flood of impressions. The costumes are elaborately selfmade and seem to come from another world, self-composed music plays on the stage and the performers are illuminated with self-produced projections during their performance. It is about breaking down boundaries and playing with images and shadows. Canada / StreetartThe fantastic artist MAXILIE MARTEL aka MONO SOURCIL from Montreal embellishes huge walls and facades in urban areas with her colorful and comiclike murals filled with weird and funny-scary characters. She started with small stickers and initially drew mainly business people in stress mode. At some point the figures became more and more oblique, the works of art bigger and bigger. Germany / StreetartRheine is a Westphalian city on the River Ems near the city of Münster and the Dutch border. It is more of a small town with around 80,000 inhabitants, but still with some beautiful street art and graffiti in the urban space. Well-known artists such as MAD C, VON SCHULZ, BUNTE WÄNDE and INNERFIELDS delivered great murals for the Ems Side Gallery. In addition, the ADL CREW aka ADLETICS is strongly represented here with great graffiti. The open spray area at the Bodelschwing Bridge and the lost place at the old train station with urbex atmosphere are highly recommended. Photographer Holger Peter was visiting Rheine, initially we only wanted to make a smaller article. Nature / ParaguayParque das Aves is a theme park located in the city of Foz do Iguaçu, in the Brazilian state of Paraná. Situated near the Iguazu River Falls, the park has 16 hectares of native forest, with 1500 animals including birds, reptiles and mammals, from 140 different species. It is a private institution that works as an integrated conservation center for Atlantic Forest species, researching captive breeding and preserving endangered animals. The worldmap with all the locations where we collected streetart and graffiti or did interesting interviews. Click on the colored fields and check out the content of each country. For several places it goes even into an additional level deeper and there are city maps. Besides urban art you will also find many articles about helpful projects, unique architecture and beautiful nature. Just the good things!
