SOUTH KOREA: Gwangju - Juan Museum of Art - Exhibition "Toon Topia" - GOLD, JBRAWING, SEONEUL & SOONBOMB

From March 3rd to June 2nd 2025, a fantastic exhibition was held at the JUAN MUSEUM OF ART in the Dong-gu district of Gwangju, featuring drawn animation from various genres and the four local artists GOLD, JBRAWING, SEONEUL and SOONBOMB showed a selection of their works. The exhibition space is located in the basement of a café, with a commercial food court upstairs and a creative comic world downstairs. The exact address is 197 Jebong-ro. You can take a break, enjoy some snacks or a nice refreshment and then there’s great art to discover in the level below! Many more exhibitions happened before at this place and many more will hopefully follow. It’s a small creative art space, but with continously interesting presentations, especially for mangas, comics, abstracts and graffiti. A special thank you goes to the graffiti artist HEAG, who showed us this wonderful exhibition; without him, we wouldn’t have found this creative space! Thanks Buddy! Together with GOLD, he creates fantastic graffiti walls around the city under the duo name COMBO, which we will show you on another page. Now here let’s dive into the artworks of the exhibition. GOLD

The artists GOLD is more into graffiti, but also has a penchant for characters. He’s an old-schooler when it comes to spray cans and was probably the city’s first graffiti artist back in times. He continues to create cool graffiti, of course, but especially with writer HEAG he started a cool collaboration project and newly formed crew COMBO.

SOONBOMB

KWON SOON BEOM aka SOONBOMB has a penchant for cat graphics, animations and comics. However he is also interested into any kind of visual representation, but the main focus is at the moment on his now world-famous special cat characters, and the whole universe around it.

LEE YONG BEOM aka SEONEUL, who in addition to these canvas works, also creates fantastic urban art and does great tattoos. Also here you will get the cat in various situations, but it’s again a new individual style of this special cat face.

JEONG BAE YEONG aka JBRAWING, in his funny, authentic acting out of situations we all know, even depicting scenes from his own life. Satire and comedy of life at its best, also in comic style.
