The Finnish border town of Tornio is basically part of a twin city that is closely connected to its Swedish counterpart Haparanda. The Swedish-Finnish border runs right through the middle of the town. This article is about urban art on the Finnish side of Tornio. The whole area is very famous for salmon fishing, because it is a major breeding and passing ground for these animals. But it is also a place of creative “breeding” and development of art and paint on the walls. Especially the HORIZONT collective has done its best with many artworks to make the streets more colorful. Also an awesome giant mural made by DON PORO shows the bottle collector PULLO EKI who realy has become a local celebrity because of his personal genuine nature. This mural is dedicated in his honor and also wants to draw attention to the social issues and waste problems in our societies. Take a look for yourself, here is a beautiful collection of great works photographed by globetrotter CELIA A.
