Graffiti Writer, Muralist and Festival Organizer – PAPARAZZI

In recent years more and more color has been coming to the island of Cyprus in the Mediterranean. The artist Achilleas Michaelides, better known as PAPARAZZI, just kept on creating one fantastic artwork after the other. He is playing an important role in the development of the local scene and the passionate inventor builds up communities, hosts festivals, connects artists and runs his own studio in Larnaka.

Tattoo Artist MIKEY BOY and the RISE ‘N’ SHINE studio

The tattoo artist MIKEY BOY from Cyprus runs together with his colleague MAXI ESPINO the tattoo studio RISE ‘N’ SHINE in the coastal city of Limassol. The two look back on many years of experience in the field of body decoration and have already tattooed all over the world. In 2013, they finally opened their own colorful premises on Dimitri Liberti Street.

The Rise Streetart Hotel in Larnaka – Mural Magic

The whole building is painted with awesome murals from the outside, as well each room is colourfully designed in an individual theme. Abandoned SODAP Wine Factory Limassol – Urbex & Lost Place Graffiti

In the west of Limassol near the old harbor is the abandoned wine factory “Synergatikos Organismos Diathesis Ambelourgikon Proionton” or SODAP for short. The industrial complex was built in 1947 and produced wine and the traditional Cypriot pomace brandy Zivania for many years. Meanwhile the 38,827 square meter site is an ideal location for urban art and the huge halls provide a lot of space from the outside, but also offer a special mystical and unique atmosphere inside.

Ayia Napa Mural Festival – High scale artworks in paradise

The first Ayia Napa Streetart Festival took place in 2012 and was launched by local creative master PAPARAZZI. Ayia Napa Graffiti Garages – House of Youth and Cultural Ensembles

The large parking garage at Archibishop Makarios III Street number 15 near the city center has served as a spray-painting site for many years and is home to some great graffiti. Especially during the many events of the Ayia Napa Street Art Festival, interesting works of art have been created here time and again. On September 9th in 2023, part of the building was inaugurated by the municipality as the “House of Youth and Cultural Ensembles” and has since officially been a meeting place for creative projects with children and young people, so there will certainly many more works follow in the future.

Scuplture Park Ayia Napa – Astonishing Artworks on an 20.000 m² area

Besides the wonderful beaches and the extensive night live, the town of Ayia Napa offers also some culture stuff and fabulous sculptured artworks on an 20.000 m² area. The Sculpture Park in Ayia Napa was built in 2014 and every year they organize a Symposium where sculptor artists from all around the world can participate. Nicosia – Ethnological Museum – House of Hadjigeorgakis Kornesiso

The House of Hadjigeorgakis Kornesisois is located at Patriarchou Grigoriou 20 near the Archbishopric in the neighbourhood of Saint Antonios. It was the area where the rich Greek used to live and the mansion is the most important example of urban architecture of the last century of Ottoman rule that survived in old Nicosia. It is quite interesting and worth a visit, the entrance is free.

Nicosia Graffiti Garages – Two underground levels filled with colors

Inconspicuous in the northeast quarter on the Greek side of Nicosia, along the Green Line with all the partly abandoned houses, but also mechanic workshops and small alternative creative places. Between a school and a sports field, there is an underground car park which is hardly visible from the outside unless you walk past it on the street. It’s a real paradise for graffiti and urban art, a treasure trove of artworks, some of which were made over ten years ago.

The Blob Graff was a graffiti store and a place where regularly workshops were held. You can see the fantastic results and also the remains of it in the backyard. The place does not exist anymore, soon the other part of the building will get renewed. Some of the great artworks on the walls around still remain, but maybe not for long as well. Kyrenia in the north of the island of Cyprus, or Girne as it has been named since the Turkish occupation, is a beautiful coastal town with an interesting historic port facility. The place is also very popular as a yacht place and boat dock. There are a few guesthouses around the port, but they are on a smaller scale. Luckily there are no high skyscrapers or hotel complexes here, they are just outside in the form of huge casino-hotel complexes.
