The street art in the front of the GAM painted in 2009 is a summary of the history and geography of Chile. It begins with the Fiesta de la Tirana, an Andean festival where pre-Columbian Andean cultures and the Christianity brought by the Spanish merge. The artist CEES draws a typical dance with his masks and costumes. Then we have a stencil of miners and fishermen, a llama running through the Atacama Desert, and finally a young Aymara playing a panpipe.
In the Coquimbo Region you can see astronomical facilities and clear, starry skies. We pass then to the port of Valparaiso, where you can see the houses rising and populating the hills. Next comes the images of Santiago, with an imposing Andes Mountains, life in the city, the subway crossing the city, and a child showing the future, this great work was made by DASIC.
The latest photos show the Araucanía Region, its flora and fauna and the Mapuche people represented here by a Machi, a traditional healer and religious leader.
