CHILE: Streetart Santiago – Barrio Brasil – Agustinas 1799 – Basílica del Salvador – Graffiti Wall

The Basílica del Salvador is a Catholic temple of neo-Gothic architecture, commissioned to the German architect Teodoro Burchard in 1871. It then passed into the hands of the Chilean architect Josué Smith Solar, being completed in 1932 after 60 years of work. Pope Pius XI elevated the temple to the rank of Basilica in 1937. However, due to the earthquakes of 1985 and 2010, the Basilica was closed and abandoned for decades, partially opening to the public in 2023. For many years there has been a long construction site wall around the south side of the large church, on which new graffiti is constantly being created. Check out as well the nearby artworks at Almirante Barroso 256 with an earlier piece by SOLITAS and JBITE from the 12 BRILLOS CREW.
