In November 2024 the cultural manager and sociologist CLAUDIO MELLA organized the painting of a mural on the interior walls of the Angol Cultural Center. He sought out the artist CRISTIAN ROJAS, also known as MACRO, who conceived the mural according to the original design, which called for showcasing the artistic disciplines taught at the center with a local natural setting. It’s also worth noting that he was supported by FEBICIDAD HOY and the mural was painted together with children participating in various workshops offered by the Angol Cultural Center.
Starting from the left, the painting is rendered with a hand and brush. Above an endemic butterfly, a woman performing ballet represents the diverse dance styles teach in the cultural center. Further to the right, a Chucao tapaculo (Scelorchilus rubecula) sings, its musical notes emanating from its beak. Above the bird is a painting of digüeñe, an endemic orange and white fungus that is eaten in Araucanía. The mural ends with flowers and a woman watching the theater and performance that the cultural center also puts on.
