Here inside the hospital, both on the 1st and 2nd floors, most of the graffiti, tags, flops and drawings predate Chile’s Bicentennial (September 2010). And although the quality of the graffiti inside the hospital is low, the main issue is that it remains almost unchanged after more than a decade. The main reason for this is the difficult to get into the hospital.
These expressions of street art have an attitude of rebellion in which the interventions of the graffiti artists open their own space, demarcating a physical and symbolic territory. However, it is clear that this space was abandoned by the graffiti artists themselves as there are no new interventions in a long time, coinciding with the perimeter closure of the hospital some years ago.
