The Gold Coast is a major city on the southeast coast of Australia in the state of Queensland and, with a population of around 650.000, is one of the country’s largest cities. Internationally, it is best known as a surfing destination. The area was originally inhabited by the indigenous Yugambeh people before being settled by Europeans in the late 18th century. The name “Gold Coast” became established in the mid-20th century during an economic boom. Today, the city is famous for its long sandy beaches, particularly Surfers Paradise, as well as for natural areas such as Lamington National Park and iconic landmarks like the Q1 Tower with its observation deck. In addition to these classic attractions, a vibrant street art scene has also developed in recent years, particularly in neighborhoods like Miami, Burleigh Heads, and Southport, where large-scale murals define the cityscape. Cultural initiatives include the BLEACH FESTIVAL, which combine urban art, performance, and installations in public spaces.
