The Wolf Lane in Perth was originally an unremarkable back alley used primarily for delivery traffic and waste disposal. The first renovations began around 2001, when the city sought to revitalize the lane and better integrate it into the city center. A decisive transformation began in 2014 with the urban art project PUBLIC by FORM, in which the alley’s walls were adorned with large-scale murals by international and local artists. As a result, Wolf Lane evolved from a functional back alley into a well-known creative hotspot in the city center. Today, it is regarded as a model of successful urban revitalization through art, gastronomy, and public design. In addition to the works from the event, further pieces have been added repeatedly in the years since. The artwork depicts a snapshot of a comical yet calamitous sequence of events involving the historical tenants of the Harper Building in Wolf Lane. You can see Nathaniel Harper overlooking what should’ve been a mundane collection of a Maple’s piano. Surely it couldn’t be that easy though.“ – SHAKEY
