„Welcome to Angol“
This intersection of routes R-86 and R-234 marks the southern entrance to the city of Angol. In this beautiful location you find sculpture, graffiti and a “welcoming sing”, creating a unique identity within the Araucanía Region. The closeby globe sculpture “Hand and Planet” was installed first, later, white, three-dimensional letters spelling ANGOL were installed in next to the sculpture. A traffic accident destroyed the letters A and N, as seen in the photographs.
In 2025, new, brightly colored letters were inaugurated to ensure high visibility both day and night for drivers traveling on Route R-86. The site was also adorned with flags, making it an important landmark and symbol of urban identity at the southern entrance to Angol. The globe sculpture and the letters act as a welcome sign that formally marks the entrance to the urban area of the city. For more photos of the earth monument have a look on the individual page.
