„Mano y Planeta“ – „Hand and Planet„

This intersection of routes R-86 and R-234 marks the southern entrance to the city of Angol. In this beautiful location you find sculpture, graffiti and a “welcoming sing”, creating a unique identity within the Araucanía Region. The sculpture „Mano y Planeta“, or in English „Hand and Planet“, was installed first in February 2022, depicting a hand emerging and holding a large metal globe prominently displaying a world map. The globe has a metal axis that mimics the Earth’s tilt. As it is a privately commissioned and local street ornament, details of its origin and author are not found in the databases of the municipality or other state agencies.

At the base of the sculpture, there is graffiti by an unknown artists, the same artists who paints wolves in different places in Angol, such as the wolf at José Bunster 615B. In this graffiti the intensity of the wolf’s yellow eyes stands out. Later, white, three-dimensional letters spelling ANGOL were installed in front of the sculpture; you can find more photos on this installation on an individual page. The sculpture and the letters act as a welcome sign that formally marks the entrance to the urban area of the city.
