AUSTRALIA: Streetart Darwin - Art to the Streets, Streetart Awards & Proper Creative

Darwin is the capital of Australia’s Northern Territory and has a population of around 150.000. The city was founded in 1869 and named after the naturalist Charles Darwin. Among its main attractions are the Darwin Waterfront Precinct, Mindil Beach with its markets, and the Kakadu National Park in the surrounding area. In recent years, Darwin has also emerged as a major hub for urban art, particularly through the ART TO THE STREETS projects, which promote large-scale murals in public spaces. This growing attention is also reflected in competitions such as the AUSTRALIAN STREET ART AWARDS, where works from Darwin are regularly nominated. The urban art agency PROPER CREATIVE plays a central role in this, having organized the DARWIN STREET ART FESTIVAL since 2017. Fort Hill Wharf – PROPER CREATIVE

This magnificent mural at Fort Hill Wharf was commissioned by a local company and completed in April 2024. It is not directly part of the DARWIN STREETART FESTIVAL and was created independently of it, but the founder of the agency PROPER CREATIVE, which created the mural, is also the festival’s director, DAVID COLLINS. The team also includes JESSE BELL, and artists TIKLS and SARRITA KING also participated on the huge artwork.
