CHILE: Streetart Santiago – Barrio Cívicio – Moneda 1365 – DASIC

DASIC FERNÁNDEZ is one of the prominent Chilean muralists who have transcended other continents. His evolution began with graffiti and later went to muralism; now he has evolved into tactical urbanism, working with architects, landscapers, and urban planners.

This DASIC mural was located just one block from La Moneda, Chile’s presidential palace. The photograph of the main graffiti was taken in January 2010.

Chop sticks and eating sushi with the faces of TV characters can be seen, worried about being eaten by a customer. This mural was likely the entrance to the sushi restaurant that once stood there.

Also included are photographs of various tags made by DASIC, just as he left them scattered on the streets of Santiago and Valparaíso in that pre-bicentennial era.
