Alanya is located on the central Turkish Mediterranean coast, on the Turkish Riviera, and has around 364.000 inhabitants. A famous beach in the town is named „Cleopatra“ because this Egyptian queen is said to have bathed here a few thousand years ago. Also worth seeing is the huge cliff fortress Alanya Kalesi from the Seljuk period, which is now an open-air museum. There are also historical buildings from the Ottoman heyday with the typical red tiled roofs, as well as the octagonal Kızıl Kule, a symbol of the city from 1226. Of course there is also urban art here, from big murals to smaller creations, also colourful installations or magnificent pirate boats. These great photos of urban art in Foça were taken by the world explorers Thomas Adventurer and Diana Beekvelt, also known as NOMADS ON WHEELS. They have been traveling through Turkey in 2024 and took a lot of cool photos. The two are continously travelling the world with a strong committment to nature and environmental protection, which they try to get more attention to in their postings. They inform about interesting places and they clean up those locations. That’s how you should visit a place!
