Phuket is the capital of the country’s largest island of the same name and Phuket Province in the south-east of Thailand. The island is located in Phang Nga Bay close to the mainland and is connected to the mainland via the Sarasin Bridge. The popular vacation destination is known for its long, white, idyllic sandy beaches, crystal-clear water and a paradisiacally spectacular backdrop of huge limestone cliffs. Worth seeing in the city are the Big Buddha, the Wat Chalong temple or the popular Thalang Road with the old town in Sino-Portuguese architectural style from the 19th century. Interesting are also the Baan Chinpracha mansion from 1903 or the Thai-Hua Museum. Of course, there is also creativity in the streets with great murals.
