THAILAND: Streetart Koh Pha Ngan – Island Graffiti in the Gulf of Thailand

Koh Phangan is an island of approximately 125 km² in the Gulf of Thailand, located about 65 km from the mainland and part of the Samui Archipelago. It has a population of just over 10.000, with about half living in the main town of Thong Sala, the island’s economic and administrative center. Other important towns include Chaloklum in the north, Srithanu in the west, and Haad Rin, known for its legendary Full Moon Parties, which attract thousands of visitors every month. Among the top attractions are the Than Sadet Waterfall in the national park, Bottle Beach, a secluded dream cove and one of the island’s 30 enchanting beaches, also various viewpoints, and numerous Buddhist and Chinese temples such as the Kuan Yin Temple and Wat Pho. Of course, there’s also plenty of street art and graffiti; much of it was created by vacationers, but some pieces are by local artists as well.
