Bangkok – Talat Noi Quarter – Color of Charoenkrung Project

Talat Noi means “small market” and is a historic neighbourhood in Bangkok adjacent to Chinatown. The area was the first port in Bangkok where immigrants disembarked and you can find several historic buildings around. Today Talat Noi is a cultural attraction combined with modern urban art, as the alleys and houses are full of colorful creations. Several galleries opened and regularly interesting events take place that bring even more works to the walls, such as “Color of Charoenkrung” featuring murals and installations by local artists and designers.

Hua Hin – Meeting of Styles – Abandoned Factory Graffiti – Lost Place Urban Art in the Jungle

Hua Hin is located in the center of the country on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand and is the oldest beach resort of the Thai royal family, and therefore also for countless tourists. Also the fantastic global graffiti project MEETING OF STYLES organized its first event in Thailand around an abandonded factory near the city in the jungle. More than 50 local and international artists created awesome artworks on April 5th and 6th in 2014, several can still be seen.

Bangkok – Khlong Saen Saep – Graffiti at the longes canal in the country

Khlong Saen Saep is a canal in central Thailand that provides a water connection from the Mae Nam Chao Phraya River to Prachin Buri and Chachoengsao, making it the longest canal in Thailand. It runs partly through the urban area of Bangkok and countless pieces of graffiti are regularly created along the walls. There are also beautiful large murals and wall paintings on the buildings along the water.

It is actually not that easy to find graffiti or street paintings in Bangkok. At first you wouldn’t think that and the city is also basically just a single “street art”. A mish-mash of humans strolling around, countless food variations and stalls. Everything is packed with stuff, the buildings and walls are full of trinkets, neon signs, advertisements, cable clutter, hanging laundry or any kind of garbage. But that’s why there is not much room for bigger graffitis there. At least in the center. Of course there are tags everywhere and smaller fast made stuff, but large free wall surfaces are rare and more found in the outer neighbourhoods.
