Whangārei is a city on the North Island of New Zealand, the Northland or Te Ika-a-Māui in the original language. The city has around 45.000 inhabitants and is the administrative headquarters of the district. You can find fantastic artworks in the urban space and especially in January 2019 some of the world’s best urban artists took part in the international art festival Street Prints Manaia. During that event 15 fantastic large scale art murals based on the theme “Tuia te muka Tāngata”, which means in English “Weaving the threads of Humanity”, were completed in Whangārei and the surrounding region of Aotearoa. Another great streetart project was the Te Oranga at the farmstay with the same name, which was a community event involving selected youth and local artists led by EARNEST BRADLEY from the Memory Lane Tattoo Studio. Here is a collection with images of fantastic artworks taken by fabulous photographer and world traveller TOBIAS BRAUCH.
