„Stettiner Bahn 1869 – Graf von Itzenplitz“ – Artwork from 2004
In summer 2004 the green corridor at Grüntaler Street was given a beautifully painted house façade on the corner of Bellermannstraße and Stettiner Street. Where the tracks of the Berlin-Stettin railroad once ran, which was built in the 19th century, now a colorful locomotive steams straight into the sky. The train on the 18 meter high mural bears the name „Graf von Itzenplitz“ and there is a special reason for this. The artist MARLENE JACHMANN researched everything in detail at the German Museum of Technology: Count Itzenplitz bought a locomotive for the Berlin-Stettin Railway in 1869 and named it after himself. Together with her creative artist colleagues MAX STOCK and ROLF EISENBERG they painted the colorful mural using special acrylic paints; the whole process took the team almost a month.
