On this page about the Hastahana Park, you’ll find photos especially of works made on the floor. Those were implemented by a company from Romania called PLAYFORM, which is as well the name of the material they are using to create the floor works. Which are definitely urban artwork creations just when you look at them, but they are also a lot more. With their work they create playgrounds especially for children, with simple but motivating options to participate and learn step by step. This material makes it very easy to create in a fast way scenarios like this, in multiple colors and with funny elements.

Those games are painted or glued in some way to the concrete floor. It is a preformed thermoplastic material used for playground markings and interactive games for kids, but also for logos and street decorations. They do this at a lot of places all around Romania and neighbouring countries.

There’s an adventurous journey where you have to complete various individual games before reaching the finish line. Next to it is a drawn street practice map where children can practice riding their bikes. We don’t want to keep emphasizing the historical backdrop of war, but yes, that’s just how it is, and that’s why places like this are all the more valuable in a city like Sarajevo. Because these small gathering spots have survived all these years and served as meeting places for people since generations. This is the Hastahana. And today, they’re still standing. Maybe the place isn’t as busy as it used to be, but there’s a lot of history behind it.
