The Monument to the Flag is much more than just a monument. Every corner of this neoclassical architectural masterpiece hides a deep meaning. The bow, pointing towards the Paraná River, symbolizes the future of the nation. And the Votive Flame, which burns tirelessly, represents the memory of our heroes. Every June 20th, thousands of people gather here to celebrate Flag Day in an emotional ceremony. The monument was inaugurated on 20th June in 1957 and was designed by the architects ÁNGEL GUIDO and ALEJANDRO BUSTILLO.
A few steps from the Monument, we find the Gallery of the Flags of America, a space that reminds us of the cultural diversity of our continent and the important contribution of immigrants to the history of Rosario. Here, the national symbols of all Latin American countries are exhibited, and it includes a tribute to Italy and Spain.
And if you are interested in learning a little more about the history of Rosario, you can’t miss visiting its Cemetery. There, the ashes of great figures such as Father Monsignor Nicolás Grenon rest, a man who dedicated his life to helping the most needy.
