The unique character of the nature park is created by the contrast between the relics from the eventful railway history of the city of Berlin, the wild nature and works of contemporary sculpture. The 18 hectare park was realized with compensation and substitute funds from Deutsche Bahn AG and with generous support from the Allianz Umweltstiftung and was a „global project“ of EXPO 2000. Most of the part is under landscape and nature protection. In the park there are two handicapped accessible circular routes of 1 km and 2.7 km in length. In the summer months, the café in the bridge maintenance facility is open on weekends.
